This is a smaller update taking care of some of the most annoying reported bugs. We are also planning to release another update for 1.10.x in a few weeks that takes care of some less critical but still annoying issues.

Issues fixed in this version:

  • [Bug MC-85162] - Slight player/mob offset when on Farmland Block

  • [Bug MC-99914] - DataWatcher / EntityMetadata ID is based on the class load order

  • [Bug MC-100333] - Entities from old (<= 1.5.2) worlds are killed when loaded in current versions due to a typo in the health data fixer

  • [Bug MC-102072] - Structure Block: Unable to navigate in the structure name field of structure blocks, using the arrow-keys, pos1, end or the delete key

  • [Bug MC-102867] - chat key bound to unicode char causes crash in creative inventory

  • [Bug MC-103177] - Missing subtitles for polar bears, strays, husks, and wither skeletons

  • [Bug MC-103497] - End Dragon Does not respawn

If you experience crashes during multiplayer sessions, we need to know if you were playing on a vanilla server or a modified server. We still get crash reports in our backend systems that we cant reproduce and we need more information to analyze that problem. It seems to be a rare but annoying problem for some players.

Battle mini game: out now & free on consoles!

Are you a master swordsman? A dead-shot with a bow? A demolitions expert? A fisherperson with an unusual lust for vengeance? Then sharpen those tools of destruction and strap on your toughest enchanted helm: its time to do Battle!

Battle is the first of several mini games were releasing for Console Edition and will be rolling out as free update across Xbox, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and Wii U today. Its a last-minecrafter-standing deathmatch in which players tussle over resources and weapons in perilous arenas, fending off would-be assassins and their own hunger pangs.

Weve designed it specifically for consoles in mind - its super-accessible and fast-paced, made to support couch-based competition just as easily as online matchmaking. Theres no need to craft anything here, and you can loot inventories and equip armour with the tap of a button. Fall beneath your opponents blade (or enchanted fishing rod) and you respawn as a spectating bat, fluttering in the face of your nemesis.

Battle comes with three spectacular-looking arenas for free, but well release more map packs down the line, each costing $2.99. And watch out for more mini games in the future too - were hoping to really amp up the variety of Minecraft on consoles, helping players to set up bizarre and outlandish rulesets without the fuss of manual countdowns, refilling loot chests, or score-keeping.

In the meantime, watch your back, stay sharp and enjoy the sweet taste of victory!

Cheerio!

Books are not a typical staple of Minecraft, generally speaking. Online guides and direct assistance from friends have long made up the bulk of information-gathering the game, and that has not changed much over the years. Even so, some pretty awesome books about Minecraft have come along, should that tickle your fancy, like the one above: The Survivor's Book of Secrets, direct from Mojang!

As the title suggests, this book mainly covers survival tactics, ranging from the basics, all the way up to some pretty innovative defensive, combative, and even pvp-centric strategies. While definitely tailored for new-to-casual players, even veterans of the game are likely to find some pretty clever tricks inside. The book runs £3.00 (Approximately $4.50), a pretty sweet deal for a book that's packed full of useful information, illustrated guides, and durable construction. Sweet!

Mojang has a number of other books in the series as well; we may do a review series on each of them in the near future!

The Survivors Book of Secrets - out now!

With E3 out the way, its the perfect time to put the kettle on and kick back with one of those papery, real-world thingamies that we enjoyed in the days before the internet shattered our attention spans. What were they called? Boofs? Boops?

Of course, we here at Mojang are learned folk who love few things more than reading a good boop, er, book. And what better book could you read than this? - our newly launched, high-quality tome: The Survivors Book of Secrets.

Unlike, say, Ulysses or the collected works of Maya Angelou, The Survivors Book of Secrets can tell you which splash potion to chuck in the heat of combat and how to organise snow golems into the ultimate battlement defence. What have you got, Mrs Dalloway? NOTHING.

Our book contains the amassed wisdom of an underground group of Minecraft experts who have been around since the days of the Alpha - and youd be a fool to wander into the wide world without its tips tucked under your arm. It also looks rather lovely. See?

Snap it up from Amazon, here, or find it in any bookshop worthy of the name.

And while youre at it, you might want to have a look at some of the other literary works weve produced:

Lots of good fodder for fellow bookworms. Enjoy!

Cheerio!

SethBling has been creating pure insanity in redstone form for years. It's honestly stunning that he can keep coming up with crazy new contraptions with such speed, to say nothing of how long he has been doing it. Today's tutorial video is no exception - a contraption that acts as a counter for dropped items!

There are obvious applications - a toll booth, a monster-proof locking system, or just a clever, reasonably simple-to-create score-keeping system. The best part of this contraption is that SethBling explains how to create one in detail, covering how it works, what parts to use, and some interesting uses for it. Neat!

Have you built this yet? Does it work?

Wait, that's not right. Engines get repaired...bad example.

The main focus for 1.10's minor updates in the coming weeks is fixing up reported problems, starting with the most aggravating or disrupting, and moving down. It's important to keep reporting any bugs you find, no matter how trivial or innocuous! No problem is too obscure, no error too small. That said, Mojang has expressed interest in one peculiar bug that has been troublesome to nail down, and you might be able to help!

Playstation/Vita players, the 1.28 is out, and should be fully distributed to every applicable region! Never one to fall behind, 4J keeps cranking out the goodness with update after update! 1.28 adds a number of features one would expect as it approaches other versions, plus some mini-game goodness, and even a few bugfixes! Let's see what we have:

CHANGELOG

  • Updated the Skin Select menu

  • Added an XO swap option in the Controls menu for players who prefer the game actions to swapped from the default Sony system button actions

  • Enabled Battle Map Pack 1 and Battle Map Pack Season Pass DLC

  • Added Caves and Ravines to Custom Superflat options

  • Fix for Slimes not spawning in Slime Chunks

  • Fixed an issue allowing players to use the Armour Stand when the Trust Players option is disabled

  • Fixed an issue where items could not be moved from the Furnace to the main Inventory using Quick Move

  • Fixed an issue in the Superflat world generation menu with the stem Mushroom Block

Console and mobile versions should have updated themselves at this time. Check out the new goodies, and enjoy!

Realms map round-up: puzzles, presents, and flights of fancy

Hello again, Minecrafters! Today weve got another selection of Minecraft minigames and adventures for you to try. Most Realms maps are available online through their creators, but weve gone the extra mile and worked with them to load the maps into Realms for PC. If you or a friend has a subscription, these adventures are available to play right now!

Unsure how to load custom content into Realms? Heres a handy help article for you. Now, lets dig in!

Captive Minecraft IV: Winter Realm by The Farlanders

The Captive Minecraft series started in 2014, after the inclusion of world borders in Minecraft 1.8. You begin in a 1x1 play area, but each time you earn an achievement, that area expands. Open your inventory to get started!

Terra Swoop Force by The Noxcrew

Terra Swoop Force is another thrilling map by mapmaking veterans, The Noxcrew. The groups founder studied sound design, and it shows in the incredibly polished resource pack. Featuring custom sounds, music, voices, and a host of new textures, this elytra-based flying game might make you forget that youre still in Minecraft!

The Present Factory by qwertyuiopthepie, wiskeyweasel, NateT_Bird

Welcome, new Present Factory Employee! Are you excited to start working at our factory? All you need to start is some basic addition skills, as well as a solid grasp of complex, omnidirectional, sorting systems. Got it? Get solving!

ZeGame by Jesper The End

Creator Jesper The End is known for reproducing other games in Minecraft, but this time, hes recreated his own game! Reminiscent of sliding puzzles from classic video games, ZeGame takes the challenge into the third dimension. As far as we know, this represents the first time that a game has launched simultaneously in Minecraft as well as on traditional game platforms!

Infinity Dungeon by Jigarbov

Like many great games, the objective is simple, but completing your task is difficult: in a labyrinthine dungeon, find the colored glass blocks and return them to your starting point. What makes this adventure different, though, is that its randomly generated, and youll find yourself re-generating the dungeon many times throughout the quest. Once you finish the game, try your luck at finding the secret ending!

A whole new world

If youre looking to start a new survival world, this trio of maps will let you do so in style.

Dragons Roost by Inryft, Floodplain, Nobleman

Elleroth by Pe3tr, Twett

Stellar Impact by Springstof

Looking forward

In case you missed it, the Realms team has been hard at work preparing for E3, as well as releasing the long-awaited Minecraft Realms for the Pocket and Windows 10 editions. We know that content thats easy to find and load into your Pocket/Windows 10 Realm is in high demand, and were looking at how to do this best in the future. In the meanwhile, have fun playing Realms, wherever you are!

You might have heard this already, but Minecraft is a pretty cool, fun, popular game. We could have just stopped there and felt reasonably proud of ourselves. But we at Mojang also passionately believe that Minecraft is a Good Thing - not just an inspiring, delightful, mind-expanding pastime, but something that brings real, positive change to peoples lives the world over. Thats why we encourage Minecrafts use as an educational tool and its also why we set up Block by Block - a partnership with UN-Habitat which uses Minecraft as a way of engaging communities in the development of public space, allowing locals to take control of their environment.

Public spaces are super important. Theyre the backbone of any community and a vital measure of its health. Theyre a key part of urban infrastructure - water, energy and communication - and well-planned public space promotes civic identity, socialisation and security. But in places of poverty, conflict or rapid urbanisation, these essential spaces often fall by the wayside, important amenities are overlooked and locals are disenfranchised.

UN-Habitat and Mojang are committed to reversing this where we can - and Minecraft has proved an invaluable way of communicating proposals to develop the environment, engaging locals in these challenges and taking their feedback to city planners. Nobody knows what a community needs better than those who live in it, and with Minecraft theyre given an easy and rapid way to express their ideas.

So far, Block by Block has initiated projects in 18 locations across 13 different countries, with many more underway in 2016. Have a look at our newly re-launched website to see the work weve done in places like Nairobi, Mumbai, Kosovo and Mexico City.

And, if you can, donate.
