Overview

WorldEditSelectionVisualizer (WESV) is essentially the famous WorldEditCUI mod in the form of a bukkit plugin, which means that players don't need to install anything on their client. When you select a region using WorldEdit, it visualizes your selection by spawning particles that form a grid around your selection. WESV only displays your selection to yourself. It supports cuboid, polygon, cylinder, ellipsoid and sphere selections.

WorldEditSelectionVisualizer needs WorldEdit to be installed, otherwise it will crash.

Remember that the minecraft client only renders particles in a distance of about 16 blocks. This means that you won't fully see your selection from far away. There's nothing I can do about this.

Commands and permissions

/wesv to toggle your selection visualizer.

  • wesv.toggle for the toggle command
  • wesv.use allows the selection visualizer to be turned on (because the WESV is enabled by default you should revoke this permission if you want to force it off for someone)

Configuration

  • horizontalLinesFor(Cuboid|Polygon|Cylinder|Ellipsoid (includes spheroids)) enables horizontal filling lines that make the selection more clear. With this option disabled the WESV only spawns particles at the edges of the selection.
  • gapBetweenPoints is the gap in blocks between particles when rendering lines. Higher numbers mean less particles in total.
  • verticalGap is the gap in blocks between the horizontal filling lines that can be enabled with the first option. Higher numbers mean less particles in total.
  • updateSelectionInterval is the interval in ticks in which the plugin looks of the selection of anyone has changed. This has to be done because WorldEdit fires no event when a player changes his selection. Higher numbers mean that players have to wait longer before their new selection is displayed to them.
  • updateParticlesInterval is the interval in ticks in which the particles are refreshed (because they decay). Higher numbers mean less lag but it will probably look awful.

Other stuff

This plugin uses darkblade12's ParticleEffect library to spawn the particles. This plugin collects statistics via MCStats Plugin Metrics.
